OFFENDER JAILED FOR BRUTAL DOMESTIC ASSAULT AND ANIMAL CRUELTY

Christopher Kemp was convicted for a severe domestic assault that included stabbing his partner multiple times and killing her dog. The court was informed that Kemp launched a sustained attack on the woman, with whom he had been in a relationship since November the previous year, after she expressed her intention to end the relationship. During the attack, Kemp physically assaulted and threw the woman around her home while shouting, "I'm going to murder you." After the assault, he directed his aggression towards her dog, tossing it into another room and causing fatal injuries. The victim received numerous stab wounds, including one on her right breast measuring 1cm, as well as injuries to her face, arms, and hand, along with bruising. She managed to flee to the kitchen but was pushed to the floor and struck multiple times on the head with a mop. The violence only ceased when she convinced Kemp not to inform anyone about his actions in exchange for allowing her to seek help. Kemp was subsequently detained, and during police questioning, he remarked, "if that's my ex f***ing lass trying to put one on, I swear to God you'll see." He admitted to the charges of wounding with intent and received a seven-year extended prison sentence. Additionally, he was ordered to have no contact with the victim for life. The court noted Kemp’s pattern of violence and revealed that he had a troubled upbringing with violent tendencies from an early age.
