MIDDLESBROUGH MAN ANTHONY CAMPBELL JAILED FOR ASSAULT ON EX AND YOUNG GIRL
Anthony Campbell, a 55-year-old with a history of violent behavior, has received an 18-month prison sentence following severe assaults on his former partner and a nine-year-old girl.Court records detail that Campbell attacked his ex-partner, who was in her thirties, by punching her and making threats to "destroy her face" in a brutal attack.
The woman sustained injuries such as a swollen black eye, bruised hand, and a cut to her eyebrow, with some wounds possibly needing surgical intervention.
During the assault, she lost consciousness several times and was left extremely distressed.
In addition, Campbell kicked the young girl in the stomach and forcibly dragged the woman along with her three children into his car before fleeing the scene on March 13.
The victim saw a plastic bottle with liquid inside and observed Campbell possessing a taser.
The woman eventually regained consciousness at a different location and was taken to hospital, where her cut eyebrow was glued.
Despite the girl not appearing visibly injured, she was reported to be experiencing pain.
Campbell was found guilty on August 14 at Teesside Crown Court of breaching a restraining order and attacking two individuals.
The court sentenced him to 18 months in prison and issued a three-year restraining order.
PC Peter Dunn, the officer overseeing the case, stated he was satisfied with the sentence, noting that Campbell remains a significant threat and the sentence provides him with time to reflect.
The incident underscores the importance of victims reporting abuse and seeking support from relevant services.
