TEENAGER JOE TULLIUS JAILED FOR CONTROLLING AND COERCIVE BEHAVIOUR IN MIDDLESBROUGH
Joe Tullius, an 18-year-old from Boynton Road in Middlesbrough, has received a prison sentence of 28 months after he inflicted severe physical and emotional abuse on a woman during their relationship.The court was informed that the abuse intensified following the victim's attempt to end their relationship.
Tullius was found guilty of controlling and coercive conduct, threatening the woman with a bladed object, and faced additional charges related to the same victim, including breaching bail conditions while awaiting trial.
Following the sentencing, Detective Inspector Rebecca Harland from Cleveland Police’s Domestic Abuse Unit commended the victim's bravery in reporting the abuse, stating: “Tullius subjected his victim to a torrent of physical and emotional abuse throughout their relationship which exacerbated after she tried to end the relationship.” The investigation was described as thorough and prompt, and it underscored the victim's courage in coming forward, which ultimately led to Tullius's conviction.
