MIDDLESBROUGH MAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND STRANGULATION

A violent offender named Ryan Parkes, aged 26, has been sentenced to prison after a series of domestic violence incidents.

Parkes repeatedly assaulted his partner, including placing his hands around her throat and squeezing tightly, during which she was unable to breathe for 30 seconds.

The court heard that previous episodes included him punching her four or five times in the face and stamping on her ear, as well as threats to kill her through strangulation.

Parkes, who has a history of violence against previous partners and 28 convictions for 52 offences including stalking, ignored a non-molestation order by calling his victim and making threatening remarks.

The victim was also subjected to objects being thrown at her bedroom window by unidentified men.

During the sentencing, Judge Christopher Smith described Parkes as 'a dangerous person to be in a relationship with' and highlighted his significant problems controlling his temper.

Parkes pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm, intentional strangulation, and threatening to damage property.

He was sentenced to three years in prison and a 10-year restraining order was imposed, preventing him from contacting the victim.

The judge noted that Parkes will serve approximately half of his sentence before being eligible for release on license.
