WELLINGBOROUGH MAN JAILED FOR THREATENING ESTRANGED WIFE WITH KNUCKLE-DUSTER
A man labeled as 'dangerous and abusive' has been sentenced to nearly two years in prison after threatening his estranged wife with a knuckle-duster amid ongoing harassment.During a hearing at Warwick Crown Court, 45-year-old Stuart Johnson, who previously resided in Rugby and currently lives in Wellingborough, was sentenced to 94 weeks following pleas of guilty to harassment charges and two counts of threatening someone with an offensive weapon in a public setting.
Johnson's pattern of harassment continued for several weeks before reaching a critical point on April 24, when he encountered his ex-wife in a parking lot on Newbold Road.
There, he threatened her while wielding a knuckle-duster.
A police officer off-duty and in plain clothes was in the vicinity and witnessed the event, promptly calling for reinforcement.
Johnson was detained at the scene.
Detective Constable Charna Adnitt from Warwickshire Police's Domestic Abuse Team described Johnson as someone who had been causing significant fear for his wife for an extended period before the threat with the weapon.
She explained, “Johnson is a dangerous and abusive man who had been causing fear to his estranged wife for some time before intimidating her with a knuckle duster.
Fortunately, one of our officers happened to be in the area at the time and was able to intervene.
This ultimately led to Johnson facing justice and he will now spend time behind bars.” A police representative also highlighted that Warwickshire Police maintain the privacy of victims’ identities.
In this case, the victim agreed to have her relationship with Johnson and details of the offence shared publicly.
The police reaffirmed their support for domestic abuse victims and provided a link for additional information and assistance.
