MAN JAILED FOR ASSAULT AND STRANGULATION OF PARTNER
A man who assaulted his partner multiple times, including strangulation, has been sentenced to prison.
Anton Tinsdeall, aged 38 and from Wellingborough, was convicted at Northampton Crown Court on July 22, 2025, of causing non-fatal strangulation, inflicting actual bodily harm, and assaulting a police officer.
The incident came to light after Northamptonshire Police responded to a call on January 20, 2025, from a woman claiming her neighbor had come to her door following an assault by her partner.
The police investigation revealed that during their only two months together, Tinsdeall had caused significant distress to the victim.
That evening, he had strangled her on three separate occasions.
Fearing for her life, she fled and sought help at her neighbor’s house before calling the police.
Earlier that week, she had also been physically attacked by Tinsdeall.
The woman described early signs of 'love bombing' in their relationship, which later escalated into verbal and physical abuse.
Fearful of him, she said he would take her phone, prevent her from leaving her home, and restrict her contact with friends.
On August 8, Northampton Crown Court sentenced Tinsdeall to four years’ imprisonment.
The court ordered him not to contact his former partner directly or indirectly, not to visit her residence, and to pay court costs amounting to £228.
