MAN WHO STALKED WOMAN AND DROVE AT SPEEDS OF 120MPH ON A45 BETWEEN NORTHAMPTON AND WELLINGBOROUGH JAILED
A man was imprisoned after stalking a woman and driving at extremely high speeds along the A45 between Northampton and Wellingborough while intoxicated.Aaron Tyler Adamson faced Northampton Crown Court on August 15, where he accepted responsibility for eight criminal charges, which included stalking and drink driving.
The first incident occurred on August 10, 2024, when the 32-year-old operated a silver Audi near the Queen Eleanor interchange.
His dangerous manner of driving—characterized by undertaking other cars, reaching speeds of 120mph, and pushing vehicles out of his way—caught the attention of police in an unmarked vehicle.
After attempts to stop him with sirens and blue lights, Adamson sped off, heading along the A45 to the Wilby Way roundabout.
He then drove onto Wilby Way and crossed double white lines to overtake other vehicles.
His reckless driving continued in Wellingborough’s Park Farm Industrial Estate, where he reached 90mph in a zone limited to 30mph, and he took the wrong way around the Moonshine Gap roundabout to avoid police.
The police chase ended when Adamson hit a pedestrian on the westbound A45.
A roadside breath test revealed he was driving under the influence.
Other charges include vandalism of a Vauxhall in Northampton on April 20 and violating a restraining order by visiting his ex-partner’s home on May 13.
He also harassed her by sending WhatsApp messages and, after being blocked, made small bank transfers with references like “ring me please,” police reports said.
During arrest, officers found cannabis in his possession.
Eight charges were brought against him: dangerous driving, drink driving, driving without a license, criminal damage, possession of Class B drugs, stalking, and two counts of breaching a restraining order.
Detective Constable Stephen Lane from the Domestic Abuse Investigation Unit commented: “This prison sentence reflects the gravity of Adamson’s crimes.
We thank the woman involved for her bravery and support, and we hope she can now move forward in safety.” He emphasized that the police will continue to focus on incarcerating offenders like Adamson.
He received a sentence of four years and six months in prison.
