MAN SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST CHILDREN
A man has been convicted and sentenced following a series of severe sexual crimes involving minors in Sussex and Suffolk.Inam Khan, aged 37 and residing on Troon Crescent in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, engaged with young children through online platforms such as chat rooms and Snapchat.
He concealed his true age to gain trust and manipulate his victims.
On September 19, 2022, Khan traveled from his home to Suffolk with the intent to meet a 14-year-old girl he had groomed online and via Snapchat.
He took her to a nearby location where he committed rape.
Authorities also received reports of an attempted rape against the same girl.
Police efforts to locate Khan commenced immediately, leading to his arrest on October 1, 2022.
Subsequently, he faced charges including two counts of rape and one of attempted rape.
Khan’s offending pattern continued as he began grooming a 12-year-old girl in Sussex, misrepresenting himself as only 16.
He solicited explicit photos under the pretense of proving her age.
On September 8, 2024, Khan traveled over 600 miles during two trips to the girl’s residence.
He sent persistent messages to pressure her into meeting and eventually abducted and sexually assaulted her.
A subsequent attempt to meet the girl six days later was unsuccessful.
Following these incidents, police reports were filed, resulting in Khan’s arrest on November 25.
On November 27, he faced multiple charges, including sexual assault of a girl under 13, removing a child from lawful authority, sexual communication with a child, and grooming.
During a hearing at Brighton Magistrates’ Court, Khan was remanded into custody until further proceedings.
His trial commenced at Hove Crown Court on June 23, 2024, lasting nine days.
On July 3, the jury found him guilty on all counts relating to both cases.
Khan remains in custody ahead of sentencing scheduled for December 22 at Hove Crown Court, where he received a 19-year prison sentence plus three years on licence.
