WELLINGBOROUGH CARER CONVICTED OF SEXUAL ASSAULT ON MAN WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES
A 45-year-old man named David Vanecke has been found guilty of sexually assaulting an individual with learning disabilities. The incident took place in March 2019 when Vanecke offered the victim a ride home after a disco he had helped organize in Northampton.
Although Vanecke instructed the victim not to reveal what had happened, the victim later confided in his care worker about the assault.
Authorities stated that Vanecke exploited his role as a registered carer for vulnerable adults to gain access to the victim.
He convinced the man to accept a lift and then subjected him to unwanted physical contact, instructing him to keep quiet.
Vanecke denied the charges, but following a trial at Northampton Magistrates’ Court last month, a district judge found him guilty.
He is due to appear in court for sentencing on November 8 and will be required to register as a sex offender.
