A man has received a 13-year prison sentence after being convicted of sexually abusing a vulnerable child over a span of two years.
Stephen Torr, aged 46, drew the attention of Bedfordshire Police in October 2020 when the victim disclosed that she had been subjected to abuse during her childhood.
Following this revelation, authorities initiated an investigation.
Unfortunately, the victim passed away before the inquiry could be completed.
A trial held in February 2025 ended with a hung jury, leading to a second trial in September.
During this trial, Torr was convicted on multiple charges: one count of assault by penetration, one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent, and three counts of sexual assault.
Torr, who resides on Nags Head Lane in Wellingborough, was sentenced at Luton Crown Court to a term of 13 years in prison.
Additionally, he will be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will be required to register as a sex offender until further notice.
