REECE MASON WELLINGBOROUGH PERVERT WHO FLASHED CHILDREN JAILED
In August 2016, a disturbing incident unfolded in Wellingborough involving a local resident named Reece Mason, who was subsequently convicted and sentenced for his inappropriate behavior.Mason, aged 20 and residing on Nest Farm Crescent, was found guilty of indecent exposure following an incident that took place on Waterworks Lane on July 20 of that year.
According to court records and witness testimonies, Mason was walking along a narrow pathway situated behind Redwell Primary School when he encountered a group of children playing nearby.
The group consisted of five children, aged between five and nine years old.
As Mason approached, he was in close proximity to a young girl when he committed a series of lewd acts, exposing himself on three separate occasions before casually walking away from the scene.
The incident was captured on CCTV footage from a nearby residence, which clearly showed Mason engaging in the indecent act.
The young girl involved in the incident reported the matter to her mother, who then alerted authorities.
The following day, the mother was near Waterworks Lane when she recognized Mason.
She decided to follow him, and Mason, upon realizing he was being watched, attempted to flee the scene.
He was quickly restrained by a member of the public and subsequently arrested by police officers.
During police questioning, Mason initially denied involvement, claiming that he was not the individual on the CCTV footage and choosing to give no comment.
However, when he appeared before Wellingborough Magistrates’ Court, he pleaded guilty to the charges.
The court was also presented with impact statements from the victims and their families.
These statements revealed the profound trauma experienced by the children, who have since been suffering from sleep disturbances and bedwetting.
The parents expressed their fear and concern, stating that they are now hesitant to allow their children to play outside freely, fearing for their safety.
In sentencing, Chairman of the Bench Neil Sheppard ordered Mason to serve 12 weeks in prison.
This sentence was reduced to eight weeks due to Mason’s guilty plea.
Additionally, Mason is required to sign the sex offenders register for a period of seven years, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his conduct and preventing further harm to the community.
