PETERBOROUGH 'FACEBOOK GROOMING' SEX ATTACKERS JAILED
Two men convicted of sexually abusing teenage girls through Facebook have been sentenced to imprisonment.
Yasir Ali, aged 28, received a 20-year sentence at Cambridge Crown Court, while 19-year-old Daaim Ashraf was sentenced to 12 years in a young offenders institution.
The crimes involved eight girls, with the youngest being 13 years old.
The offenders would pick up victims from their homes and take them to secluded locations or hotels, where they intoxicated them with alcohol.
These incidents occurred between 2008 and 2013 and affected girls from Peterborough, Lincolnshire, and Rutland.
Ali was found guilty of 15 counts, including four rapes, trafficking for sexual exploitation, possession of indecent images, sexual activity in front of a child, and intimidation.
Ashraf was convicted of nine charges, such as trafficking, sexual assault, sexual activity with a minor, and intimidation.
Authorities described both men as manipulative, using social media to establish trust with victims and impress them through car displays and hotel trips.
