PAEDOPHILE JAILED FOR HISTORIC ABUSE
A paedophile who abused two young girls in the early years of the 21st century has been convicted.William Thompson’s crimes only became known after his victims came forward as adults to share their experiences with friends.
The 70-year-old, living at Nightingale Court in Gunthorpe, Peterborough, was detained in 2021.
He denied both the sexual assault of the children and any incitement to sexual acts.
He also claimed he had no sexual attraction to children.
Despite his denials, Thompson faced trial at Huntingdon Law Courts in August.
A jury convicted him of five offenses after deliberating for around five hours, with a majority verdict.
His convictions included three charges of encouraging or causing a girl under 13 to perform sexual acts and two charges of assault involving touching a girl under 13.
He was sentenced to a 13-year prison term during a hearing at the same court on Friday, 14 November.
