MAN WHO HARASSED AND ASSAULTED HIS FORMER PARTNER JAILED
A man responsible for harassing and assaulting his former partner has been given a prison sentence exceeding two years.Ryan MacDonald, aged 29, from Fen View in Stanground, Peterborough, made threats to damage the victim’s property on March 21 of the previous year, warning he would break her windows and doors.
Although the victim initially reported the incident to police, she retracted her complaint two days later, believing that her relationship with MacDonald—who is the father of her child—was improving.
However, three months afterward, MacDonald resumed contact, messaging her during working hours to inform her he was outside her residence.
Despite being instructed to leave her alone, he was observed nearby as she finished her shift.
Feeling unsafe, she accompanied him to a park where an argument occurred.
A few days later, while she was collecting her child from school, MacDonald appeared shouting and grabbed her phone, throwing it at her face and causing injuries to her lip and chin.
Over approximately a week, MacDonald continued to pursue her with repeated calls, texts, and unannounced visits, which led to his arrest.
While on bail, he made several attempts to convince her to drop the charges, resulting in a further arrest.
On April 29 at Huntingdon Law Courts, MacDonald received a sentence of two years and four months after admitting to charges including harassment that caused fear of violence, actual bodily harm, and attempting to intimidate a witness or juror.
Other charges such as stalking, property damage threats, threats to kill, and two counts of assault were ordered to be kept on file.
