A man has been sentenced to prison for sexually abusing a young girl more than 25 years in the past.
Shahid Hussain, aged 60, was accused of assaulting the victim at a residence in Peterborough between 2000 and 2002, starting when she was only seven years old.
The victim endured the trauma for over twenty years before reporting the abuse to authorities once she reached her 30s.
In April 2023, Hussain was questioned by police, during which he denied any misconduct, claiming the allegations were fabricated to harm him.
After a trial at Cambridge Crown Court in November of the previous year, he was convicted on four counts of indecency towards a girl under 14.
On 27 March, Hussain, who lives on Field Avenue in Oxford, received a four-year prison sentence.
Additionally, he has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register.
