PETERBOROUGH MAN IN COURT CHARGED WITH RAPE AND BLACKMAIL
Update 23/03/2026: A man who raped two women in Peterborough has been jailed for 26 years.Wayne Lightfoot, 36, met his first victim while on a night out on 4 September 2022.
They went to the victim’s home and had consensual sex.
Later that night he forced himself upon her, despite being clearly told, “no”, and that he needed to leave, he raped her.
On 26 August last year, Lightfoot went on a date with his second victim in Peterborough before going back to his house in Stanton Square, Hampton Hargate.
When they arrived, the victim changed her mind and said she wanted to leave but he violently assaulted her, took her phone away and raped her.
Following a trial, Lightfoot was found guilty at Peterborough Crown Court of four counts of rape, seven counts of sexual assault and false imprisonment.
On Friday (20 March) he was sentenced at the same court to 26 years in prison.
He was also handed an indefinite Restraining Order and Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

A man accused of rape, sexual assault, blackmail and false imprisonment has pleaded not guilty in court.
Wayne Lightfoot, of Stanton Square, Hampton Hargate, in Peterborough, appeared in court on August 29.
He is charged with three counts of rape, six counts of sexual assault, blackmail and false imprisonment, in relation to two women.
The 35-year-old pleaded not guilty to all charges at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court.
He has been remanded in custody to appear at Cambridge Crown Court on 26 September.
