PETERBOROUGH MAN JAILED FOR LIFE FOR PARTNER'S MURDER
A man described as 'jealous' who killed his partner, dismembered her body, and packed her torso into a suitcase has been sentenced to life imprisonment.
Vytautas Jokubauskas, aged 57 and residing on Mayor's Walk in Peterborough, was convicted by a jury at Southwark Crown Court of her murder.
The murdered woman, 42-year-old Ramute Butkiene, was last seen with injuries, and her torso was found in a locked room on June 5.
Approximately a week earlier, Jokubauskas had strangled her using the cord from her dressing gown after accusing her of seeing another man.
Following the murder, he dismembered her body, watched war movies and drank whisky while her torso was stored in a suitcase, and buried her arms and legs in nearby woods before fleeing the scene.
He was apprehended on June 7, just a few streets away from where he had left her body.
In police interviews, Jokubauskas confessed to the killing, stating, 'I am a killer,' and claimed his strangulation of her was 'just a little' to scare her.
The judge imposed a sentence of at least 20 years behind bars.
The court proceedings revealed disturbing details of how the defendant murdered and dismembered his partner, driven by jealousy and temporary rage.
