MIRFIELD WINE BAR OWNER CONVICTED OF SEXUAL ASSAULT
A wine bar boss who forcibly kissed a heavily intoxicated woman has been convicted of sexual assault.
Sundeep Passi, who owns The Office bar in Mirfield, supplied her with cash for Jagerbombs before grabbing her and kissing her.
During the trial at Kirklees Magistrates' Court, Passi was found guilty of sexual assault.
The prosecution portrayed him as taking advantage of her drunken state, with the victim recounting how he whispered in her ear, kissed her, and put his tongue into her mouth, while his hand prevented her from pulling away.
Passi maintained he had only a vague memory of the incident, citing fatigue rather than intoxication as the cause.
He was cleared of a second related sexual assault.
The court noted that his sentencing would occur on August 15 after a full report was ordered.
