MAN ACCUSED OF KICKING PREGNANT PARTNER TWICE AND SMASHING HER WINDOW
A man named Jack Lonergan was accused of kicking his pregnant partner in the stomach and smashing her window at her home on Hopton Avenue in Mirfield on January 18.The victim, who was 13 weeks pregnant at the time, was reportedly kicked twice in the stomach, and her window was damaged in the incident.
Prosecutor Shamaila Qureshi stated that the victim called 999 during the attack, which included the sound of smashing glass, contradicting Lonergan's claim that the window was broken beforehand.
Lonergan appeared in Kirklees Magistrates' Court and pleaded not guilty to charges of assault by beating and criminal damage.
The case will be heard at Huddersfield court on April 17, with the court allowing the victim to give evidence from behind a screen.
For the time being, Lonergan was granted conditional bail with a restriction on contacting the victim.
