MAN DRUNK AND VIOLENT TOWARD PARTNER AFTER HEAVY DRINKING
A drunk man named Mark Wigley, residing in Greenside Court in Mirfield, was involved in a violent incident with his partner. After consuming 14 pints of lager, four Desperados, and a bottle of vodka, Wigley reportedly experienced a 'red mist' which caused him to act aggressively.
He called his partner a 'scruffy little cokehead' and sent her threatening emojis of daggers via Snapchat.
The situation escalated when Wigley bombarded her with threatening messages and caused physical damage to her property, including wrecking their house with debris and damaging her vehicle.
The couple had been drinking with friends when Wigley approached his partner, shouting obscenities such as 'go suck a black man's d****', 'a slag', and 'vermin'.
He tried to assault her but was restrained by a friend.
The victim then left and later saw Wigley gesturing at her from a window and calling her 'a slag' again.
He continued to threaten her through messages and images, including pictures of the damage he caused.
The total cost of the damage was estimated at £1,500.
Wigley pleaded guilty to criminal damage and sending a communication conveying a threat.
The magistrates sentenced him to a 12-month community order, including 25 days of rehabilitation activity and 100 hours of unpaid work.
He was also ordered to pay his victim £500 in compensation.
Wigley expressed remorse for his actions and stated that he could not explain why he acted out of character, attributing his behavior to emotional distress following the recent death of his grandfather.
