MIRFIELD MAN JAILED FOR STALKING EX AND CAUSING MENTAL TORTURE
An obsessive man named Jordan Niwas, residing in Northway, London Park, Mirfield, has been convicted of stalking his former partner after a prolonged and persistent campaign of unwelcome contact. The victim, with whom he was together for seven and a half years before their separation in July 2017, described how Niwas bombarded her with phone calls, texts, and Facebook messages despite a court ban from contacting her.
He made her feel isolated and constantly wanted to know her whereabouts and activities.
On one occasion, he turned up at her Birstall home demanding to see her, telling her, 'Get him outside, I'm going to stab him,' and threatening to harm her children by saying, 'I know where your kids live.' Niwas also sent her messages stating he was going to hang himself.
Multiple incidents involved Niwas following her in his car, following her from the Cambridge Hotel and asking her to pull over so he could take her for food.
He also recorded her without her knowledge and filmed her, which the victim described as mental torture.
The magistrates found her evidence credible and ordered a report from the Probation Service before sentencing him on March 28.
He was ordered to be banned from contacting her or going to her home.
Niwas was found guilty of stalking in a trial at Huddersfield court, and his behaviour was described as having affected her life 'in the most adverse manner imaginable.' The case concluded with a conviction and a court order for further assessment prior to sentencing.
