MIRFIELD MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO DOMESTIC ASSAULT
A man has admitted assaulting his partner at her Mirfield home.Gary O'Sullivan, of Old Bank Road, appeared at Kirklees Magistrates' Court via a prison link from HMP Leeds.
He pleaded guilty to an offence of assault by beating.
Magistrates were told that the victim lives in the neighbouring property to 50-year-old O'Sullivan.
On February 22 he admits that he pushed her while they were outside her home.
The assault was witnessed by a police officer called to the address, magistrates were told.
O'Sullivan claims he only pushed her but the victim says that she was assaulted further within the house.
He appeared at the Huddersfield court via a prison link from HMP Leeds after breaching his bail conditions not to contact his ex.
His solicitor Carl Kingsley said: "He lives directly next door to the complainant and was bailed to his brother's address in Wakefield.
"But he kept returning to the home address.
Both parties are drinkers and she goes to his address on a regular basis.
"The complainant said she no longer wished to proceed with the case.
Sadly for him the push aspect of the assault was witnessed by a police officer.
"He's entered a guilty plea on the basis of one push.
She says that much more than that went on inside the house." Magistrates adjourned O'Sullivan's case until April 25.
He was remanded into custody in the meantime.
