STEVE ROBERTS FROM CLYDEBANK AND DALMUIR CAUGHT WITH CHILD INDECENT IMAGES
In June 2015, a man from Dalmuir, identified as Steven Roberts, faced serious criminal charges after being found in possession of a disturbing collection of indecent images of children.Roberts, who resides on Dunn Street, appeared in Dumbarton Sheriff Court to face the allegations that he had stored over 150 illicit images and videos depicting young girls.
The court was informed that the material found on Roberts' computer included images of girls as young as eight years old.
Some of these images were classified at the most severe level of abuse, which involved acts of rape and torture inflicted upon very young children.
The nature of these images highlighted the gravity of the offense and the disturbing nature of the material involved.
The police action that led to Roberts' arrest took place during a raid on June 12 of that year.
During the operation, law enforcement officers seized his computer for forensic examination.
Following the seizure, Roberts was taken to Clydebank police station, where he admitted to the authorities that he was in possession of the illegal images and videos.
His confession confirmed the charges against him and set the stage for his court appearance.
At the hearing, Sheriff Turnbull ordered Roberts, who is now residing on Dumbarton Road in Clydebank, to be placed on the sex offenders register, a legal requirement for individuals convicted of such offenses.
The court also decided to defer sentencing until October 21, allowing time for further background checks to be completed.
The case underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat the distribution and possession of child exploitation material and protect vulnerable victims from harm.
