SWADLINCOTE EX-MATH TEACHER STEVEN BOULD SENTENCED TO 33 MONTHS FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS
A former mathematics teacher at The Pingle Academy in Swadlincote has been sentenced to 33 months in prison after admitting to sexually touching underage girls.Steven Bould, aged 36, previously worked at The Pingle Academy for five months during 2018 and 2019, a period during which he was suspended following concerns over his conduct.
Prior to that, he spent six years employed at Nether Stowe School in Lichfield.
Bould was convicted of nine charges related to intentionally touching underage girls in a sexual manner.
The sentencing was originally scheduled for October of the previous year but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The hearing at Stafford Crown Court resulted in his imprisonment for 33 months.
Following the sentencing, Viv Sharples, the principal of The Pingle Academy, expressed her support, stating, "Following sentencing we wish to thank the professional bodies involved in this case for supporting the students and the academy." A spokesperson from Nether Stowe School also commented on the case, emphasizing the seriousness of the matter: “This is a very serious matter and the school worked closely with the authorities throughout their investigation to ensure that all appropriate action was taken.
The school takes its safeguarding responsibilities seriously and the safety, wellbeing and protection of students is of paramount importance to us.
Steve Bould was a maths teacher from 2010 to 2016.” Bould, who lives in Heath Hayes, Cannock, was employed as a maths teacher from 2010 to 2016.
In total, seven of the offences took place while he was at Pingle Academy, and two occurred during his time at Nether Stowe School.
The charges included multiple incidences of sexual touching of girls under the age of 13 and 16, with some acts carried out without consent or the belief that consent was given.
Specifically, he was convicted of sexually touching a girl under 13 on at least three occasions, and a girl under 16 on numerous occasions where the touching was sexual, non-consensual, and he did not reasonably believe she was consenting.
The court found that the total number of offending acts exceeded 20 across the nine charges.
In addition to his prison sentence, Bould was ordered to sign the sex offenders' register for 10 years.
