TEEN RAPIST THREW BOILING WATER OVER INMATE'S GENITALS IN PRISON ATTACK
Ethan Rowley, a man convicted of sexual offences, is set to serve an additional nine months behind bars following a brutal incident in which he poured boiling water over an inmate. This assault occurred in a prison setting and was described as seemingly lacking any apparent motive.
At the time of the incident, Rowley was 19 and was being held on remand while awaiting trial for serious sexual crimes.
He was later sentenced to 21 years at Derby Crown Court last summer.
The recent sentence extension pertains to a separate attack, which caused severe injuries to the victim.
During the attack, the victim suffered significant injuries, including skin hanging off the genital area and legs, as disclosed in court.
Judge Michael Auty KC remarked that Rowley's existing sentence of 21 years is already substantial for his age.
The judge described the attack, which took place at HMP Nottingham in the prison shower block, where Rowley threw scalding or boiling water onto the victim.
The impact was severe, blistering the victim’s skin and damaging his genitals.
The judge noted uncertainty regarding the full extent of the injuries, as the victim did not cooperate with prison authorities to provide a detailed statement.
The assault occurred on November 8, 2024.
According to prosecutor Samantha Warner, Rowley was in a shower cubicle when the victim entered.
The defendant exited, dried and dressed, then returned shortly afterward to carry out the attack.
This incident underscores the continued dangers faced by inmates and the severity of Rowley’s violence within the prison system.
