STEPHEN SMITH FROM MORECAMBE SENTENCED TO 21 YEARS FOR RAPE AND KIDNAPPING IN LANCASTER AND BLACKPOOL
A man described by authorities as a highly dangerous individual has been sentenced to a total of 21 years in prison following a series of violent crimes that shocked the community of Morecambe and surrounding areas.Stephen Smith, aged 39, was convicted at Preston Crown Court on multiple counts including rape, kidnapping, grievous bodily harm with intent, strangulation, and assault.
The criminal acts began in February of the previous year when Smith forcefully entered a hotel room in Morecambe and proceeded to sexually assault a woman.
Witnesses and police reports detailed how Smith barged into her room uninvited, and during the assault, he strangled her with such ferocity that she believed she was about to lose consciousness.
