MAN JAILED FOR CHILD ABUSE PLOT AND POSSESSION OF INDECENT IMAGES
A man convicted as a sex offender appeared at a Nottingham pub carrying chocolate, lubricant, and condoms after allegedly planning to sexually abuse children as young as two.During a court hearing, Nottingham Crown Court was told that Salvatore Zizzari, a father of one, believed he was meeting with the mother of a child in Nottingham to discuss their disturbing plans, which he had arranged online.
He thought they would go to her residence and carry out multiple sexual offences involving her three young children.
However, it was revealed that 'Marie' was actually an undercover police officer impersonating the mother, leading to Zizzari’s arrest.
The judge sentenced him to ten years in prison, stating that police had created a fictitious character named Marie who claimed to be a mother willing to allow her children to be sexually abused.
Zizzari actively engaged with this undercover officer and arranged to meet her in a pub in West Bridgford.
He then intended to go to her home and commit sexual crimes against her children over the course of a few days.
Zizzari was caught in the car park after leaving the pub, where officers found sweets, lubricants, condoms, and strawberries and cream flavoured Lindor chocolates in his vehicle.
The judge commented that if the children had been real, Zizzari would likely have proceeded with the abuse.
Prosecutor Laura Pitman stated that the incident occurred on October 30, 2024, and that Zizzari had been conversing with 'Marie' for about ten days before traveling from Cambridgeshire to Nottingham.
Evidence found in his car included three bags of Maltesers, multiple tubes of lubricant, a box of six condoms, and a box of strawberries and cream Lindor chocolates.
She explained that Zizzari believed he was targeting three children aged two, eight, and eleven, and that there were plans to abuse more children in the future, with the assumption that the children's mother was involved.
Authorities highlighted that Zizzari posed a high risk of harm to young children, both male and female.
Zizzari, residing in Langley, Bretton, Peterborough, faced trial and was convicted of attempting to facilitate child sex offences and possessing indecent images of children on his mobile phone.
The images were discovered during post-arrest analysis.
His legal representative described him as a man with a previously good character, noting that he has an autism diagnosis and Asperger’s syndrome.
She said that he claims to have no sexual interest in children and that he has a ten-year-old son living with his mother, whom he hopes to visit while in custody.
As well as the prison sentence, the court ordered Zizzari to register as a sex offender for life and to abide by a lifetime sexual harm prevention order.
