PETERBOROUGH MAN JAILED FOR STRANGLING GIRLFRIEND AND DOMESTIC ABUSE
Peterborough thug Piotr Kowalczyk, aged 25, was found guilty and sentenced to 18 months in prison after an assault on his girlfriend which included choking her until she lost consciousness.
The incident occurred on December 16, 2022, when Kowalczyk became angry and violent after she declined sex.
He grabbed her by the hair, strangled her until she passed out, and then continued to threaten her before physically attacking her with punches, kicks, and a headbutt.
The woman was left covered in bruises and contacted police the following day after Kowalczyk had left her flat.
He also ripped out some of her hair during the attack.
Kowalczyk, who does not have a fixed address, pleaded guilty to charges including intentional strangulation and assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH).
Further, he breached a community order in the process.
On March 1 at Peterborough Crown Court, he was given a five-year restraining order preventing him from contacting his victim in any way.
DC Jake Owen of Cambridgeshire Police remarked that domestic abusers who strangle their partners face up to five years in prison, emphasizing that Kowalczyk's assault left his partner extremely frightened in her own home.
The authorities continue to prioritize tackling domestic abuse and protecting victims.
