In April 2021, a woman from Kettering displayed remarkable courage and resilience after enduring a traumatic sexual assault, which ultimately led to the conviction and sentencing of the perpetrator, Oliver Edwards.

Oliver James Edwards, a 38-year-old man with no fixed address, was held accountable for a disturbing incident that took place in the town of Kettering on the evening of June 6, 2015.

The assault occurred at a private residence during a social gathering, which was in full swing just after 10 pm.

According to reports, the victim, who was feeling unwell, had decided to retire early for the night.

She went to bed, seeking rest and hoping to recover from her illness.

However, her night was abruptly disturbed when Edwards, whom she had only met earlier that day, entered her room and committed a sexual assault.

It is important to note that at no point did the woman give her consent to Edwards or to his entry into her sleeping area.

The assault was unprovoked and non-consensual, leaving her deeply traumatized.

Following the incident, Edwards was arrested by authorities and charged with sexual assault.

The case was brought before Northampton Crown Court, where a jury unanimously found him guilty of the charges.

On the verdict being delivered, Edwards was sentenced to serve four years and four months in prison.
