A man who caried out an assault on his partner in Carlisle in August last year has been jailed.
Callum Fox, 26, of Hilltop Avenue, Kettering was sentenced to 32 months behind bars at Carlisle Crown Court on Wednesday (25 Feb) after he admitted breaching a restraining order, intentional strangulation, grievous bodily harm and threats with a bladed article in a private place.
He was also given an indefinite restraining order against the victim.
On 26 August 2025, police received a 999-call stating a woman was in danger from her ex-partner and that Fox was attempting to break into her address in Carlisle.
Police attended and located Fox a short distance from the property and he was arrested.
Officers then learnt of an assault the previous day, on 25 August, where Fox had assaulted the victim by slapping and punching her and had then thrown a number of knives at her which, fortunately, did not hit her.
Fox also held a knife to the victim’s throat stating “I’ll do it”.
In an attempt to flee from Fox, the victim moved to another room within the property, however the assault continued with Fox pinning the victim down and strangling her.
