NIGEL GREEN FROM PETERBOROUGH SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL GROOMING OF MINOR IN DISTURBING CASE

In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community in Peterborough, Nigel Green was brought to justice after being caught engaging in highly inappropriate and illegal conduct involving a minor. The incident dates back to March 8th, 2024, when Green was targeted and subsequently apprehended by a dedicated paedophile hunting team that operates to protect vulnerable children from online predators.

Green, who resides in Peterborough, engaged in a series of disturbing online communications with what he believed was a 14-year-old girl. During these exchanges, he revealed explicit details about his sexual activities, including describing what he was doing sexually to himself while thinking about her. The predator also sent explicit photographs of himself and explicitly requested the girl to send him indecent images, further demonstrating his predatory intent.

Moreover, Green expressed a desire to educate the girl on sexual matters, which added to the severity of his actions. His conduct was not only morally reprehensible but also illegal, as it involved attempts to groom a minor for sexual activity. Green pleaded guilty to the charge of ‘Adult attempt to engage in sexual communication with a child,’ a conviction that underscores the seriousness of his actions.

However, critics have pointed out that the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) did not pursue additional charges, such as attempting to entice a child into sexual activity or causing a minor to view sexual images. This decision has sparked debate about whether justice was fully served in this case.

On March 10th, 2025, Green appeared before either Peterborough Magistrates or Crown Court to face sentencing. The court handed down a sentence that, while somewhat lenient, reflects the gravity of his crimes. Green was sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for two years, meaning he will not serve time unless he commits another offence within that period.

In addition to the suspended sentence, Green was ordered to complete a 40-day programme designed to address his behaviour, along with a 30-day rehabilitation activity requirement aimed at preventing future offending. The court also mandated that he pay £272 in court costs. Furthermore, Green was subject to a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and a five-year Sex Offender Registration (SOR), both measures intended to monitor and restrict his activities to protect the community.
