Marek Woroniecki, 62 years old, was convicted at Peterborough Crown Court in July of several serious crimes, including two counts of rape, causing actual bodily harm, intentional strangulation, and assault by beating.
He received an 18-year prison sentence on September 15th and was also subject to a lifelong restraining order as well as a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
The court heard that police responded to an incident on New Year’s Day after a woman was assaulted and suffered significant injuries, such as two black eyes, a split upper lip, and bruising across her face, legs, and arms.
Throughout the trial, Woroniecki maintained his innocence regarding the charges but was ultimately found guilty.
DC Emma Curtis commented: “Woroniecki inflicted traumatic injuries on his victim in the most horrific manner – he clearly poses a significant danger.
I am glad that justice has been served.
This case highlights the bravery and resilience of the victim, who persevered despite the trauma suffered.”
