Sentenced: 28 January A "sexual predator" who raped a 16-year-old girl after luring her to his flat and giving her alcohol following a party in a seaside town has been sentenced.
Jonathon Downie, aged 25, met the girl at a gathering in Morecambe last summer before committing his "sickening" assault, according to Lancashire Police.
After the attack, the offender asked the girl: "Did I rape you?" Downie, who has no fixed address, admitted to rape in Preston Crown Court and was sentenced to five years in prison.
The police reported that Downie gave the girl alcohol at his flat prior to the assault.
Despite her pleas for him to stop touching her, David continued and then raped her.
The victim managed to push him away, to which Downie responded: "Did I rape you?" When she said yes, he asked, "Why didn't you stop when I told you to?" The police officer Det Con Charlie Brown highlighted her courage, stating: "Downie's victim has been incredibly brave, and has shown immeasurable strength, despite her young age." He also added: "Downie is a predator, and his behaviour is perverted.
I welcome the sentence handed down on him today.
This sickening behaviour will never be tolerated in Lancashire."
