A man who physically assaulted and threatened his partner by biting her has been sentenced to 18 months in prison.
Jason Driver, aged 43, initially met the victim online in October 2019 while he was serving time behind bars.
Following his release in February 2021, he moved in with the woman and her children in Peterborough, and they began a relationship.
Although the relationship eventually ended, Driver continued to live at the same residence due to lacking alternative accommodation.
In June of the previous year, the victim contacted the police to report Driver’s behaviour.
She stated that he had bitten her and issued threats on multiple occasions during their relationship.
The woman also revealed to officers that she had concealed bruises from family members and colleagues, indicating physical abuse.
Driver, whose place of residence was not fixed, was detained by police and later admitted guilt to causing actual bodily harm through assault.
At Cambridge Crown Court last week, on February 2, he received an 18-month prison sentence and was also given a five-year restraining order to keep him away from the victim.
