EX-CATHOLIC PRIEST ADMITS DECADES OF CHILD ABUSE
A convicted former Catholic priest has admitted to further child abuse offences, with some of the offences dating back to the 1970s.Dennis Finbow, aged 77, is currently serving a prison sentence after being found guilty in 2023 of abusing a young girl while working in Peterborough.
Recently, at the city's crown court, he confessed to 15 indecent assaults on two males and three females, mostly under the age of 16, committed between 1975 and 1992.
Finbow, who used to reside in Martlesham near Ipswich, was already jailed for six and a half years in March 2023 for touching a girl while she was in bed.
During his voluntary police interview, he dismissed the allegations as "nonsense and a fabrication." The court heard that the victim described Finbow as a cigar-smoking, larger-than-life character with a "secret life" as a paedophile.
The Diocese of East Anglia confirmed that Finbow, who previously also served in St Neots in Cambridgeshire, had retired and not been in active ministry since 2001.
He has been stripped of his clerical status.
His sentencing on the additional offences is scheduled for 15 September, where statements from his victims will be presented.
A sixteenth count of indecent assault remains on file.
