RAPIST WHO HAD CLAIMED EVIDENCE AGAINST HIM WAS WITCHCRAFT IS JAILED
A man who claimed that the evidence linking him to the rape of a teenage girl was 'witchcraft' has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison.
Demba Embalo, aged 21, committed the assault at a property in Peterborough in 2019.
Later that year, the victim disclosed the details of the incident, leading to Embalo’s arrest on 5 November.
Although DNA evidence connected him to the offence, Embalo initially denied the charges and insisted that the incriminating evidence was rooted in witchcraft, according to Cambridgeshire Police.
However, during his trial at Huntingdon Law Court, he changed his plea to guilty on 18 October 2021.
On the following Friday, the court imposed a prison sentence of three years and eight months alongside a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Detective Constable Sarah Seston praised the survivor for her support during the investigation, noting her maturity and resilience, which the judge also acknowledged.
She described Embalo as a predator who exploited a vulnerable girl and expressed satisfaction that he would no longer pose a threat.
