DAVID BELLAMY FROM KETTERING SENTENCED FOR DECADES-OLD SEXUAL ABUSE IN LEICESTER
In a case that has spanned over four decades, a 74-year-old man from Kettering, identified as David Bellamy, has been sentenced to prison for serious sexual offenses committed in the late 1970s.The conviction was handed down at Leicester Crown Court after a jury found Bellamy guilty of indecently assaulting a young girl who was only 14 years old at the time of the abuse.
Bellamy, residing on Brambleside in Kettering, had consistently denied the allegations throughout the duration of his trial.
Despite his denials, the court heard compelling evidence that he had engaged in multiple acts of abuse against the victim over a period spanning from 1977 to 1979.
The jury was informed that the abuse was not a one-time incident but occurred repeatedly during that period.
The court proceedings revealed that the victim was subjected to abuse on numerous occasions while she was asleep at a relative’s residence in Kettering.
The court also heard that Bellamy had groomed the young girl by allowing her to smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol, which was part of his manipulative tactics to gain her trust.
Additionally, he took her for drives in his sports car, further establishing a pattern of grooming and exploitation.
Following the conviction, Bellamy was sentenced to a total of five years and three months in prison.
However, he will serve only half of this sentence before being eligible for release.
As part of his punishment, he was also ordered to register as a sex offender for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the public from any potential future offenses.
