MIRFELD MAN JAILED FOR THREATS WITH KNIVES AND VIOLENT OFFENSES
A thug threatened to slit police officers' throats as they tried to arrest him during a disturbance in his ex-girlfriend's Batley home.Daniel Bellamy ran at the officers with kitchen knives and declared he would stab anyone who attempted to approach him.
The 27-year-old father, residing on North Way, Mirfield, was sentenced to two years in prison for that incident and a series of other offenses.
Prosecutor Mehran Nessiri revealed that members of the public contacted police on October 5 of the previous year after spotting Bellamy walking along the M62.
Police located him wandering on the motorway and detained him in a police van.
During the arrest, Bellamy became aggressive, spat at an officer, and threatened to harm them with the knives.
Further offenses include harassment of his ex-partner, turning up at her home intoxicated and aggressive, attempting to force entry into her flat with a crowbar, and causing damage to her property.
He also assaulted her by throwing a stone at her head, pulling her hair, and stealing her mobile phone, along with stealing a bottle of gin and throwing a metal sign at a security guard.
Officers involved expressed fear for their lives and safety during these incidents.
Bellamy pleaded guilty to multiple charges including assaulting an emergency worker, affray, criminal damage, harassment, and theft.
His defense stated he had learned his lesson, was enrolled in prison courses, and wanted to be a good example for his children.
It was also mentioned that at the time of the offenses, his relationship with his partner was still active, and he was permitted to stay in the flat.
