PETERBOROUGH MAN JAILED FOR RELENTLESS STALKING AND ABUSE OF EX-PARTNER
HEARING a pounding on her front door, mum Megan Brailsford opened to find the police on her doorstep for the fourth time that week - this time flanked by armed cops. The loving mum-of-two, from Peterborough, Cambs, had been accused of killing her children by an anonymous caller to the local force - amid a terrifying stalking campaign that lasted four months.
Megan, 31, was bombarded with death threats and rape threats, with digits every four seconds at times, and taxis were ordered to her house constantly for four months.
She and her partner Dan Dugdale both reported vile messages to police, which included sick threats, videos of bestiality, and images of mutilated dogs similar to those she owned.
Megan described her ordeal as leaving her feeling 'completely insane' and 'like you’re losing your mind'.
She couldn't sleep more than two hours a night due to constant harassment, police visits, and taxis.
Megan's mum Lisa expressed guilt for encouraging her relationship with Dan, which she now believes was a mistake after learning about the abuse.
Dan had initially claimed innocence, suggesting he was being targeted by anonymous abusers, but evidence such as messages on his phone and a deleted note confessional revealed he was behind most of the abuse.
Dan eventually confessed to being responsible for most harassment, including intimidating voice notes, fake emails to Megan's work, and false reports to social services claiming she was a prostitute using drugs with her children.
Megan reports that Dan quit his job to dedicate himself to stalking her and harassed her with disturbing messages, even blaming her in a chilling on-camera interview.
Megan was forced to move away due to safety concerns and found love notes from Dan hidden under pictures in her house after his arrest.
Dan Dugdale was convicted of stalking, inciting fear of violence, and perverting the course of justice, resulting in a sentence of three years and nine months in jail.
