PETERBOROUGH MAN JAILED FOR VICIOUS STREET ATTACKS INCLUDING KICKING GIRL IN HEAD
A violent offender named Catalin Ganciu, aged 28, was involved in a series of unprovoked violent attacks on April 26 in Peterborough. He first ran up to a six-year-old girl and viciously kicked her in the head in the middle of a busy street, knocking her to the ground.
Interestingly, he then helped the child up before fleeing the scene.
Subsequently, a woman who attempted to help him by fetching water from a nearby shop was followed inside by Ganciu, who then punched her in the face before escaping again.
The police arrived to apprehend him, but he lashed out by punching an officer in the abdomen and even damaged the interior of a police van by kicking it once in custody.
At Cambridge Crown Court on Wednesday, July 16, Ganciu was sentenced to one year and seven months in jail after pleading guilty to two counts of actual bodily harm, one count of assault by beating a emergency worker, and one count of criminal damage.
A Crown Court investigation was conducted by DC Hannah Cooke, who described Ganciu's actions as "a horrific series of unprovoked attacks" and emphasized that "violence like this is inexcusable, especially towards a young child." Ganciu caused minor injuries to all three victims, and the six-year-old girl was taken to hospital for checks.
The judge's decision highlights the severity of his actions and his dangerous behavior.
