ALAN DAWES SENTENCED IN HARTLEPOOL FOR PREGNANT 13-YEAR-OLD GIRL

In a case that has shocked the Hartlepool community, Alan Dawes was sentenced to nine months in prison after being found guilty of engaging in unlawful sexual activity with a minor and causing a 13-year-old girl to become pregnant. The incident, which took place in the year 2000, was brought to light during proceedings at Teesside Crown Court, revealing disturbing details about the relationship between Dawes and the young girl.

According to the prosecution, Paul Cleasby, Dawes was 36 years old at the time of the offense, which involved a single act of sexual intercourse with the girl, who was under the age of consent. The court was informed that the sexual encounter occurred sometime between May and June of 2000. The girl’s mother, concerned about her daughter’s behavior and the developing relationship, contacted social services, prompting an investigation that eventually involved the police.

During the court proceedings, the girl refused to admit to having had sex with Dawes. However, the evidence was irrefutable: she was 34 weeks pregnant at the time, and DNA testing confirmed that Dawes was the biological father of the unborn child. Despite this, Dawes initially denied any involvement, claiming he was not the father and that no sexual activity had taken place. Even after the birth of the child and the presentation of DNA evidence, Dawes continued to deny the allegations.

It was only later that Dawes admitted to having unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 16, acknowledging his guilt in the matter. His defense lawyer, David Lamb, argued that the girl was a willing participant and that Dawes deeply regretted the incident, emphasizing that it was a one-time occurrence. Nonetheless, the court was not convinced that the act was consensual or that it was a minor lapse.

Judge George Moorhouse expressed concern over the trauma experienced by the young girl, emphasizing the profound impact of becoming a mother at such a tender age. In addition to the prison sentence, Dawes was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of seven years, a measure intended to protect the community and prevent future offenses.
