STEPHEN GREEN FROM WITTON GILBERT AND HARTLEPOOL EXPOSED IN CHILD PORN SCANDAL
In a shocking case that has sent ripples through the local communities of Hartlepool and Witton Gilbert, Stephen Paul Green, a 25-year-old nurse, has been stripped of his professional license following his involvement in a disturbing child pornography scandal.Green, who was employed by the Hartlepool Care Trust, was found to have shared nearly 200 explicit images depicting young boys with other internet users involved in illicit activities.
Green's criminal activities came to light after he engaged in online chatrooms where he made contact with other individuals sharing similar perverse interests.
It was during this online exchange that he exchanged and disseminated images of minors engaged in sexual acts.
The severity of his actions was underscored by his prior conviction, which led to a five-month imprisonment at Durham Crown Court last year.
He was also placed on the sex offenders' register for a period of seven years following his conviction on 16 counts of producing indecent images or pseudo-photographs of children.
Despite his criminal record, Green was working as a primary school nurse in the Hartlepool area, having taken up his position in September 2003.
However, his employment was short-lived, as he was arrested in January 2004, just four months after beginning his role.
Following his arrest, Green was suspended from his duties, and an investigation was launched into his conduct.
During the professional conduct hearing held in London, the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) made the decisive move to remove Green from its register, effectively ending his career as a nurse.
The hearing was informed that Green had admitted to being sent images of children by individuals he met in chatrooms.
He confessed to viewing these images, which depicted young males in the nude, and acknowledged that he had deleted them from his devices.
William Buxton, chair of the conduct committee, emphasized the gravity of Green's actions, stating, "His actions in making use of child pornography were fundamentally incompatible with being a nurse.
This action caused direct harm to vulnerable children in that it encouraged child abuse.
The committee believes that the respondent could pose a significant risk to any children who might come within his care as a nurse." Green, who hails from Witton Gilbert near Durham City, did not attend the hearing in person.
A spokesperson for the Hartlepool Care Trust issued a statement clarifying that Green is no longer employed by the organization, reaffirming their stance against such misconduct and emphasizing their commitment to safeguarding children and maintaining professional standards.
