SHAUN BOWRON SENTENCED TO 13 YEARS FOR SEXUAL ABUSE IN HARTLEPOOL AND PETERLEE
In a case that has shocked the local communities of Hartlepool and Peterlee, Shaun Bowron, a 36-year-old former swimming coach and landscape gardener, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 13 years for heinous sexual offenses committed against three young boys.
The sentencing took place at Teesside Crown Court, where the court also imposed a restraining order on Bowron, explicitly prohibiting him from working with children or entering any public swimming baths or leisure facilities where children are present.
Upon his release from prison, Bowron will be subject to a further ten years of supervised release, commonly known as a license, during which he will be under strict monitoring to prevent any further offenses.
The court's decision underscores the severity of his crimes and the danger he poses to the community.
Details of Bowron’s latest offending emerged during the trial, revealing that his criminal behavior persisted despite a prior history of similar allegations.
The court was informed that Bowron’s previous convictions date back to 1994, when he faced four separate charges related to sexual misconduct.
In that year, he was convicted of two counts of indecent assault and two counts of indecency with a child, specifically for molesting an 11-year-old boy he met at a swimming baths in North Yorkshire.
Following these convictions, a judge at York Crown Court ordered Bowron to serve a two-year probation period.
During this time, he was also required to complete 100 hours of unpaid community service and to seek professional help for his problematic behavior.
Despite these measures, Bowron’s pattern of offending continued, culminating in the recent case.
At the recent trial, Bowron was accused of multiple serious crimes, including three counts of rape, six counts of indecent assault, and one count of indecency with a child.
The victims, all young boys from Hartlepool and the surrounding areas, testified against him, describing how Bowron groomed them for abuse.
One of the victims recounted how Bowron attempted to hypnotize him by instructing him to stare at a dot on a wall, an act intended to manipulate and control.
Throughout the proceedings, Bowron, who resides on Baliol Close in Peterlee, denied all allegations.
His defense lawyer, Peter Makepeace, argued that despite the jury’s guilty verdicts, Bowron still maintained his innocence.
Makepeace acknowledged that the court had the authority to impose a life sentence but emphasized that the restrictions already in place, including the lengthy prison term and the restraining order, would serve to protect the community effectively.
Judge Peter Bowers, presiding over the case, described Bowron as a “predatory paedophile,” highlighting the calculated nature of his grooming and abuse of vulnerable young boys.
The court’s decision reflects a firm stance against such predatory behavior, aiming to safeguard children and deter similar offenses in the future.

This serial pedophile is still playing the system - the judge at his latest trial just let him walk out on unconditional bail AGAIN!! It was moved to Teeside Crown Court due to issues at Durham. No sooner had victims/witnesses started giving their evidence, BOWRON feigned ‘medical episodes’ and the court had to stop. This happened on 2/3 occasions and has now resulted in the trial being stopped. The Judge who is a complete idiot, was taken in by this vile scumbag who is obviously playing the system. It had taken real courage for people to give their evidence and the judge has failed them. BOWRON has to provide medical evidence when he should have been put on remand for contempt of court. Yet again this serial pedophile is walking the streets and if anymore young boys get sexually abused by him - it is all on this incompetent judge! So *ucking angry 🤬🤬

This serial pedophile is back in Durham Crown Court 01/12/25 charged with sexually abusing SIX young boys (historical cases) he has pleaded not guilty to 17 charges. I pray that he’s found guilty and they throw away the key. He should never see the light of day again - I hope he rots in hell. (He used to be a head lifeguard & swimming teacher at Knaresborough Pool run by Harrogate Borough Council).
