HARTLEPOOL MAN JAILED FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE
A man with a history of voyeurism and child abuse has received a seven-year jail term for offenses committed in the past.Phillip Roland Calingasan, age 53, was convicted by Durham Crown Court on February 25 of serious crimes including eight counts of engaging in sexual acts with a minor, voyeurism, sexual assault, and participating in sexual activity in the presence of a child.
The case arose from an investigation carried out by Cleveland Police’s CAVA Team, which focused on two female victims and was launched after a tip-off during the summer of 2020.
Detective Constable Andrea Merriott praised the victims for their courage in coming forward and acknowledged the vital role of specialist officers in securing the conviction.
The judge imposed a seven-year sentence, with Calingasan expected to serve most of it.
