NELSON MAN DESCRIBED AS 'MENACE' BY COURT FOR ASSAULT ON EX-PARTNER IN BURNLEY HOTEL
A man named Zafran Saeed has been involved in a serious domestic incident.
He followed his former partner into the Oaks Hotel in Colne Road, Reedley, and assaulted her.
The woman, who was with her daughter and a close friend at the time, explained that Saeed used an open palm to hit her on the nose during a verbal disagreement.
Staff at the hotel reported the assault, and police responded to the scene.
CCTV footage reviewed by officers confirmed the verbal contact between Saeed and his ex-partner but did not show any physical violence.
Saeed, who resides on Princess Street in Nelson, has four previous convictions for five offences and admitted to breaching a restraining order and a suspended sentence.
He was handed a one-year prison sentence after the court found him to be a 'menace' to women he has relationships with, as described by Judge Sara Dodd, who emphasized Saeed's violation of the order and his conduct which was considered very disturbing.
The court also acknowledged his remorse and guilty plea, but nonetheless imposed the sentence, highlighting the serious nature of his breaches and behavior.
