OFFENDER JAILED FOR RAPE AND HOME INVASION IN NELSON
A woman feared she would be killed by Ionut Tanae, 33, who raped her twice, broke into her home, and tried to intimidate her into withdrawing her police statement.
Tanae pleaded guilty to two counts of rape, one count of burglary, and two counts of perverting the course of justice by witness intimidation.
He was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison and received a 15-year restraining order to stay away from the victim.
The court heard that after raping her, Tanae broke into her address in Nelson, where she woke to find him standing over her, threatening her.
He also attempted to manipulate her into retracting her statement to the police.
The victim expressed emotional distress, crying for a month and a half, and described feeling a deep depression.
The police praised her bravery for coming forward and emphasized that such behavior is unacceptable in Lancashire.
