PORN ADDICTION
A joiner from Dunfermline admitted that his addiction to mainstream pornography had led him to download images and videos depicting child sexual abuse.Wojciech Klasa, aged 34, possessed two devices containing this illicit content, which included material featuring girls between the ages of two and 15.
Representing him at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court, Klasa pleaded guilty to actions between March 27, 2022, and October 8, 2024, involving the creation or possession of indecent photographs or pseudo-photos of children, either at his residence or elsewhere.
Prosecutor Sarah Smith explained that, in September of the previous year, authorities received intelligence indicating that indecent images were being uploaded from Klasa’s home.
A search on October 8 resulted in the seizure of a notebook computer and a mobile phone, which were subsequently examined.
The analysis revealed a total of 119 images and 16 videos.
Of these, 16 images and one video were classified in the most serious category A.
Defence attorney Amy Harley stated that Klasa's actions originated from an addiction to regular pornography.
She added that he used a chat website where most material shared was legal, though some files contained illegal images of children.
Ms.
Harley also noted that Klasa would download such material and delete it afterward, and all the images recovered were inaccessible to him at the time.
Sheriff Steven Borthwick remarked that background checks are needed as Klasa had no previous criminal record, and he ordered that Klasa be registered as a sex offender.
Sentencing was postponed to November 4, with Klasa remaining on bail.
