DUNFERMLINE IT EXPERT DOWNLOADED INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN
A 67-year-old man from Dunfermline has been found guilty of downloading indecent images of children.IT professional David Norman, residing in Spruce Grove, stood trial at Dunfermline Sheriff Court where a jury convicted him on two charges.
The alleged offenses took place between April 8 and December 16, 2019, during which he is said to have downloaded explicit photographs of minors.
Additionally, between February 6, 2018, and February 24, 2020, he was found to be in possession of an indecent image of a child.
During the trial, Norman, who has a lengthy background working in IT support, testified that he had never actually viewed the inappropriate material.
He suggested that the images might have been contained within a downloaded zip file, but he claimed to have no knowledge of their presence.
Despite his testimony, the jury dismissed his claim and returned guilty verdicts.
Sheriff Susan Duff requested additional reports before sentencing and ordered Norman to be listed on the sex offenders register.
His sentencing is scheduled for May 25.
