EVIL & COWARDLY MAN WHO RAPED AND BLACKMAILED A VULNERABLE TEENAGER HAS BEEN JAILED FOR 12 YEARS
Farooq threatened a teenage girl by saying he would cut her throat, pour boiling water over her friend, and assault her father if she did not pay him money.
He also claimed he would break her windows and display explicit images of her on neighbors’ houses.
The young girl paid nearly £2,000 to him before reporting the incident to the police.
The 21-year-old from Smith Street, Nelson, was arrested and faced charges.
He confessed to committing blackmail, harassment, and distributing or threatening to distribute private images, but he denied raping the girl.
Despite his denial, he was convicted following a trial that concluded in December of the previous year.
He received a 12-year prison sentence at Preston Crown Court yesterday.
Recognized as a dangerous offender, he was also given an extended license period of four years, making his total sentence 16 years.
He is required to serve at least two-thirds of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
Additionally, Farooq was subject to a 20-year sexual harm prevention order, ordered to register as a sex offender for life, and an indefinite restraining order was enacted to safeguard the victim.
