A man from Fife has been registered as a sex offender after making inappropriate comments at a woman’s residence in Perth.
Tyler Wells appeared in the city’s sheriff court and pleaded guilty to engaging in a “sexual verbal communication” without approval from his victim at her property in the Craigie area on May 5 this year.
The indictment states that Wells did so “intentionally and for the purpose of sexual satisfaction, or to humiliate, distress, or alarm” the woman.
According to the court, Wells made sexualized remarks linked to sexual acts.
Solicitor Angela McLardy, representing Wells, expressed her client’s remorse.
“She described the incident as a single lapse,” she said.
“It was a moment of poor judgment, and he regrets it wholeheartedly.” Sheriff Alison McKay commented: “It’s clear to me that you did not comprehend or respect appropriate social boundaries.
“The social work report suggests that some remedial work might be beneficial to prevent a repeat.” The sheriff placed Wells under supervision for a year, stating: “He caused significant discomfort to the complainant, particularly as this happened in her own home.
“This sentence acts as an alternative to detention.” Hailing from Rosyth, Wells will remain on the sex offenders register for a year, the court was told.
